IT’S ALL ABOUT (well, almost) THE WATER

The water temperatures are fairly constant at 79-83 degrees year round and white sand beaches are located around the island shores.  The water is crystal clear, seas are usually calm and there is little current.

WATERLOGGED AND LOOKING FOR OTHER ACTIVITIES?

Cimmaron will assist you with arrangements for any of the following “landlubber” activities prior to your arrival or after you are on island:

DINING

Dinner reservations are suggested at many of the finer dining establishments.  Contact Cimmaron for recommendations and arrangements.

PROVISIONING

One of the benefits of renting a vacation home is your own kitchen and BBQ for preparing meals at home.  Wouldn’t you rather spend your first night in your island home relaxing on the deck gazing at the stars rather than shopping at the market?  Contact Cimmaron with your provisioning list to make arrangements.

CHEFS

You have your own kitchen, why not pick an evening to treat yourself to your own Chef.  St. John has some of the best, award-winning chefs in the Virgin Islands waiting to be at your service.  Contact Cimmaron for recommendations and arrangements.

SPAS

If shifting gears to “island time” is not enough relaxation, pamper yourself further with a spa treatment including body wraps, facials, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, and massage.  Visit a private spa or have a masseuse come to your villas.  Contact Cimmaron for recommendations and arrangements.

GOLF

There are no golf courses on St. John, but if you are a golfer you should not pass up the chance to play a round (18 hole, par 70) at Mahogany Run Golf Course on St. Thomas just a short ferry ride away.  The lush course is challenging and features spectacular vistas.  The 14th hole -- perched on a cliff 200 feet above a rocky inlet of the Atlantic Ocean with unlimited views of the sea and neighbouring islands – is one of the most photographed and among the most challenging of par-3 holes in the world.  Clubs are available for rent.  Gotta play it to believe it!  Contact Cimmaron to arrange tee times and travel arrangements.

WEDDINGS

Have you dreamed of being married in a tropical paradise?  If so, St. John provides the perfect setting.  Whether your vows are a first time “I Do” or a “I Still Do” renewal of your vows, experienced wedding planners will help you make your dream a reality.  Contact Cimmaron for recommendations and arrangements.

ON YOUR OWN ON ISLAND TIME – DON’T MISS:

VIRGIN ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK VISITOR’S CENTER

Nearly two-thirds of the land area of St. John is National Park.  The Park also encompasses underwater areas with protected marine life and coral reef.  Stop by the Visitor’s Center on the water front in Cruz Bay for information on exploring St. John including the Park’s history, hiking trails (over 20 throughout the island), historical sites (pre-Columbian Amerindian settlements, Danish colonial sugar plantation ruins, forts)  and local flora and fauna.  Brochures about the Park, maps and books are available at the center which is open daily from 8 am to 4:30 pm with Rangers to answer your questions about trails and hikes (some guided).

TENNIS

Public tennis courts are available in the heart of Cruz Bay on a first-come, first-served basis. Tennis courts are also available at island resorts and non-guests may be allowed to pay a fee and use the courts.

SHOPPING

It’s not just shopping…it’s an adventure…and it’s all DUTY FREE.  In Cruz Bay stroll around the streets and discover an eclectic variety of shops (and shoppers), restaurants, bars and snack places.  The shops usually open about 10 am and, depending on the season, often close at dusk.  If it’s possible to experience an even more laid-back shopping experience, head out of Cruz Bay on Route 10 (Centerline Road) and “over the mountain” to the Coral Bay side of the island.  Don’t forget to stop at the top of the mountain to check out the shops and awesome views of Coral Bay.  It’s all downhill from there.

CASINO GAMING

There are no casinos on St. John, but there are video slot machines at The Parrot Club in Wharfside Village and some other establishments.

ROAD TRIP

It is easy to explore St. John as you wind on the roads over mountain tops, through lush tropical forests, and along the beaches and coastlines.  There are two main roads on St. John – one runs across the center of the island from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay and the other along the North shore – but travelling off the beaten path in your 4WD vehicle will give you the full experience of the entire beautiful island?  The vistas are overwhelming.  How lost can you get on a 9x4 mile island.  GAS UP AT THE ONLY GAS STATION IN CRUZ BAY – KEEP LEFT – DON’T SPEED (speed limit is 20 mph or 10 mph in town) – KEEP ON EYE OUT FOR DONKEYS, SHEEP, AND GOATS IN THE LAND OF “NO FENCES”.
